There are some out there who consider Mahalia Jackson on the the greatest Gospel singers who ever lifted her voice in praise. After listening to her, I don't think I could argue that point at all. Among those who thought it was the illustrious man himself, Dr. Martin Luther King. In fact, she was handpicked to follow his "I Have A Dream" speech with her joyful How I Got Over.
Now I am not sure I could offer up the name of a more iconic Gospel song than Amazing Grace. To hear Mahalia sing it is an experience, indeed.
