As part of my ongoing series on the Summer Olympic Games, I give to you today's celebration, "Games People Play" by The Spinners. The song is sometimes known as "Just Can't Stop the (Games People Play)", written by Joseph B. Jefferson, Bruce Hawes, and Charles Simmons. The 1975 song went to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #1 on the R&B chart. The Spinners were thoroughbreds in the Motown stable of hit-makers, with twelve songs placing in the Billboard Top 40 before this on hit the airwaves.
